Description
A jumper from the Siemens factory was installed incorrectly on
the Class 72G Elevator Starters. The jumper should have been
installed from terminal 1 to terminal 9 (on the starter itself) but
was installed from terminal 2 to terminal 10 (on the starter
itself).
The wire acts as a jumper providing power to the normally open
Ready Contact. When the jumper is connected between terminal 1 and
terminal 9, the normally open Ready Contact controls the fault
contactor. When the jumper is connected between terminal 2 and
terminal 10, the fault contact can be energized whenever there is a
120 VAC power to the starter regardless of the state of the normally
open Ready Contact.
For more information see the attached Siemens Product Safety
Notice.
Action
Shut off power to the starter before proceeding to correct the
wiring error.
De-energize three phase and 120 VAC supplies to starter.
Check the jumper on the appropriate starter to see if it needs to
be changed (SEE FIGURE 1).
Move wire from terminal 10 to terminal 9 (on the starter). The
wire in terminal 2 does not have to be moved since terminal 1 and
terminal 2 are internally connected.
Re-energize the three phase and 120 VAC supplies to the starter.
Verify that the fault contact mounted on the right side of the unit
pulled in and the starter accepts the motor wiring
configuration.
